- "A banger! I could murder a lot of people at once with this."
- — Arthur when picking up a banger.
Bangers are ranged weapons in We Happy Few. They're improvised hand grenades consisting of a canteen filled with explosives, with a leather sling and several screws drilled into the top of it, acting as detonators.
Overview[]
- "Goes "bang!" Surprises people to death."
- — Game Description
When wielding the Banger, the player will automatically aim at the closest target but one can also manually aim their throw by holding down the attack button When aiming a throw, the game will display a red laser-like line showing the trajectory, with a white reticle showing the point of impact. If an the throw is aimed at an NPC, they will be highlighted by a white outline, even through walls.
Once thrown, the Banger will travel along a set trajectory until it impacts a surface or an NPC. When it hits something, it will explode, causing heavy damage and possibly inflicting bleeding to anyone caught in the blast radius, with the damage decreasing the further the target is from the impact. If the player is caught in the blast radius, they will also suffer the consequences.
Bigger Banger[]
- "Blows up better than a regular banger."
- — Game Description
The Bigger Banger is a more powerful variant of the normal Banger. It contains TNT instead of Black Powder, resulting in a bigger explosion.
The Bigger Banger behaves identically to the normal Banger, save for its higher damage, making it more powerful in combat, but also more dangerous in the hands of an enemy.
Berserk Bomb[]
- "Makes people nearby go berserk. Berserk people attack anyone who's not berserk."
- — Game Description
The Berserk Bomb is a type of banger that makes every NPC nearby go berserk and attack whoever is not berserk, including the player. It doesn't inflict any damage on the targets, as the damage is meant to come from the berserk NPCs.
Vomit Bomb[]
- "Who doesn't want to see a lot of people throwing up? Always hilarious."
- — Game Description
The Vomit Bomb is another type of banger that the player can either craft themselves or find in chests and other areas in the game. It will not inflict any damage on the targets when used, but it will cause them to stop in their tracks and throw up, allowing the player to escape safely.
The player will not be inflicted by the bomb.
Smoke Bomb[]
- "Doctors throw these at people they want to slow down. Surprisingly ineffective when used without medical training."
- — Game Description
The Smoke Bomb is a version of the banger that Doctors use against the player. When used, it will emit a very small white cloud.
The player has to be hit by the smoke bomb by a Joy Doctor in order to get the Slow Down status effect, which will decrease their walking and running speed for a short while.
If the player uses the weapon, it won't do anything to the enemies.
Crash Bomb[]
- "Flushes joy of all people caught in the blast."
- — Game Description
The Crash Bomb is a Survival Mode specific banger that the player can use against Wellies. When thrown, it will emit a large black cloud that makes every Wellie, Bobby and Joy Doctor break into tears for a while.

Trivia[]
- The Banger was likely invented by the Home Army as a substitute for their standard-issue grenades once supplies ran out.
- This is seen as the Home Army soldiers will throw Bangers in combat and both types of Bangers can be found in the supply dumps on Ravensholm.
- Although it may be that the two simply share a model, the Depleted Gas Bomb from A Pomaceous Puzzle seems to indicate the Vomit bomb is a form of mustard gas.

Old Content[]
The Banger has been available since the Pre-Alpha 11219 build of We Happy Few.
Overview[]
Bangers, unlike how they work currently, didn't do very much damage and required many throws in order to kill NPCs. They could also be carried without drawing any suspicion from the NPCs, but the impact once thrown could cause a distraction.
It took up 2 slots in the player's inventory, and could only be placed upwards. To use it at all, it needed to be placed in the player's quickslot.
Trivia[]
- In the 11219 build, the banger had some strange behaviour. When dropped, it'd move when the player moved, regardless of how far away they were.
- In the 11915 build, glass bottles were used to craft bangers instead of canteens.
- In the 17956 build, the crafting materials returned to using the canteens instead of glass bottles.
- As of the 17956 build, the in-game model for the Banger are the same as they are today.
